Liverpool Player Ratings – Man United (H)

Liverpool continued their remarkable start to the season on Sunday, beating rivals Manchester United 2-0 at Anfield to go 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League, with a game in hand.

Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah scored the goals for the Reds, proving to be enough for them to get the victory.

After a fast start, Jurgen Klopp’s men took the lead in the 14th minute when Van Dijk headed home from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s fizzed corner.

Liverpool had their second soon after when Roberto Firmino curled in an effort, only for VAR to chalk the goal off because there was a supposed foul by Van Dijk on David de Gea in the build-up.

The Reds kept pushing for that second goal and missed a lot of chances, especially glaring ones from Sadio Mane and Salah.

Eventually, after a few nervy moments, the European champions clinched the victory in the 92nd minute, when Alisson pumped the ball long for Salah to run on to and score, sending Anfield into a frenzy.

This was a proper statement win over their rivals for Liverpool, who are now 30 points ahead of United, having played one game fewer.

Here’s how we rated the players after the game…
