Liverpool Player Ratings: Salzburg (A)

Liverpool rode a first-half storm from Red Bull Salzburg to eventually win the game 2-0 and march into the last-16 of the Champions League.

Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah scored in the space of a couple of minutes around the hour mark to seal the deal for the Reds in a game full of chances.

A game that began with the speed of light saw Salzburg creating the first big chance, but Alisson made a fine double-save to deny them the lead.

Thereafter, Salah had two glorious opportunities to score, but Stankovic stood firm to deny the Egyptian.

Liverpool held their nerve after the break and opened the scoring in the 57th minute, with Sadio Mane cooly finding Keita’s head for the Guinean to score. Salzburg’s keeper was no where near.

A minute later, he charged out to stop Salah bearing down on goal, but the Egypt international was sharp to take it around him and score from a tight angle.

The European champions had other clear-cut chances to make this a more comfortable scoreline, but they weren’t clinical enough. At the end of the day, those misses didn’t matter though.

Here’s how we rated the Reds after this game:
