Liverpool keep their winning start in the league going by scrapping past Sheffield United 1-0 at Bramall Lane. Georginio Wijnaldum scored the only goal in a game that was fought till the last second.
Jurgen Klopp’s men laboured in the game but dug deep to defend when required and created enough chances to deserve this victory.
This win makes it seven out of seven for the Reds, who have done that for the first time since 1990.
In a tightly-contested first half, Sadio Mane had the two best chances for Liverpool. But the Senegalese star had a miss-kick with the first one and hit the post with the second.
Sheffield United had two very good opportunities to score but the away side defended well and put their bodies on the line.
Then, it was in the 70th minute when Wijnaldum’s volleyed attempt somehow bundled through Dean Henderson.
Mohamed Salah had a chance to wrap up the game few minutes later but the Blades’ keeper came back with a good save.
At the end of the day, a scruffy win for Liverpool who were probably playing at 60% and still managed to sneak out the three points.
