Liverpool Player Ratings: Wolves (H)

Liverpool managed to end their incredible league on a high by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at Anfield and finish second in the table with 97 points on the board.

Sadio Mane scored a brace for the Reds to help them get over a line against a Wolves side, who were no pushovers throughout the course of the game.

The Reds started the game briskly but the away side sat deep to soak up the pressure and frustrate their opponents.

However, in the 17th minute, a deflected Trent Alexander-Arnold cross found its way into the path of Mane six yards away from goal. The Senegalese then had to put his foot through to score his 21st league goal of the season.

Wolves almost equalised at the stroke of half-time, but Matt Doherty hit the bar with a fantastic shot.

In the second half, Liverpool looked really leggy and understandably so after what happened on Tuesday night. The visitors almost took advantage of that, but Alisson was there to deny Diogo Jota twice from close range.

Jurgen Klopp’s men wrapped the game up nine minutes from time, when Trent produced a peach of a cross for Mane to head home his 22nd league goal.

At the end of the game, despite knowing that Manchester City have won the league, the Anfield faithful rose as one to applaud the effort their team had put in this season.
