Liverpool scout monitoring the progress of Leeds star White

Liverpool talent scout Andy O’Brien is closely monitoring the progress of Leeds United star Ben White, according to The Athletic.

The centre-back has shone on loan from Brighton this season, helping Leeds into the automatic promotion positions in the Championship.

White has started all 34 of his side’s league games in 2019/20 to date, proving to be a key man at the heart of the defence.

Liverpool have been linked with the 22-year-old in the past and their interest is still serious, according to this latest report by Phil Hay.

He states that scout O’Brien has been ‘watching White closely’, ahead of a potential summer swoop.

I see White as an excellent replacement for Dejan Lovren at Liverpool, potentially coming in as the Reds’ fourth-choice centre-back amid claims that the Croatian could leave the club this summer.

White’s ability on the ball could help him fit in well at Liverpool, with the Englishman enjoying an 85.5 per cent pass completion rate in the league this season. In comparison, Virgil van Dijk (88.8%), Joe Gomez (88.9%) are only marginally superior, while Joel Matip (83.1%) and Dejan Lovren (83.9%) are inferior.

At the age of 22, he would be a long-term signing, rather than someone who comes in as a key man, while his fitness record this season suggests he could be relied upon, unlike the ageing and injury-prone Lovren.
