The mind game are in full flow ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
While Jurgen Klopp has been typically relaxed leading up to the game, barring a minor dig at City’s tactical fouls, Pep Guardiola seems utterly obsessed with the Reds.
Just minutes after his side has beaten Southampton on Saturday, he was labelling Sadio Mane a diver.
It was a bizarre interview from the Spaniard, but someone who likes what he heard is Liverpool legend Graeme Souness.
Speaking to Virgin Media Sport, the Scot believes Guardiola’s comments are “encouraging” for the Reds, suggesting he is rattled ahead of the weekend showdown:
I’d be encouraged if I was in the Liverpool camp.
So soon after City’s game finished, he’s talking about his own team and then immediately he came out with his remarks regarding Mane.
You’re thinking too much about Mane and Liverpool immediately after a game. I’d be encouraged by that if I was a Liverpool player or member of staff.

Guardiola’s obsession with Liverpool is now almost becoming comical, with the Reds clearly getting under his skin in recent times.
Their constant late goals and comebacks seem to have angered the City boss further, leading to his needless remarks about Mane.
The outcome of Sunday’s game could be enormous in the Premier League title race, with victory for Liverpool taking them nine points clear of their rivals.
Expect potential fireworks on the sidelines.
