Liverpool should resist a sale as Monaco plot big-money Shaqiri move

Ligue 1 side Monaco are reportedly interested in a big-money move to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Liverpool.

According to Andreas Boni, Monaco are ready to offer the player a huge salary of €12 million a year. He claims that Liverpool are demanding a fee in the region of €36 million for his signature.

With the player not guranteed regular first-team football at Anfield, he now has a decision to make on his future.

This comes just hours after it was revealed that Shaqiri is playing a key role in Liverpool’s decision not to strengthen over the summer.

He is highly rated by Klopp, who believes he still has plenty to offer to the squad, even if it is only in a rotational role.

Monaco would be able to offer the player regular first-team football but any move away from the European champions, where he is clearly enjoying his time, would be a difficult one to make.

Financially, it may be worthwhile for Liverpool to cash in on the player if their asking price is met, but with limited time left in the transfer window, it would leave Klopp with a transfer headache that he may not be able to solve in such short notice.
