Liverpool have been dealt a potential blow, with Soccer Avenue journalist Mansour Loum claiming the 2021 African Cup of Nations will take place in January and February:
⚽️ La #CAN2021 se jouera en janvier – février. Officialisation ce 15 janvier. Pour les autres éditions, possible configuration : dates au cas par cas selon le pays hôte et passage en janvier-février les années de Mondial des clubs new look. Bref, la CAN est SDF (sans dates fixes)

Last year’s tournament occurred in the summer, with Sadio Mane’s Senegal beaten by Algeria in the final.
It means Liverpool could have to make do without Mane, Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita for approximately six weeks next season, at what would be a crucial point in the campaign.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the decision is expected to be made on Wednesday.

I believe this is undoubtedly a huge blow for Liverpool, given the importance of Mane and Salah, in particular.
To lose two of the best wide forwards in the world could hamper the Reds greatly, in my opinion, in what is hopefully the defence of their Premier League crown.
I think it highlights the need to sign another top class forward this summer with Jadon Sancho my ideal pick.
The 19-year-old would bring pace, trickery and goals, and is still being tipped for a move to Merseyside.
Takumi Minamino will also need to have come to the fore by then, too – that shouldn’t be an issue, having had a year at Anfield by that point.
