Liverpool transfer target Nicolo Barella will not be allowed to leave Cagliari in January, according to Calciomercato, via Nuova Sardegna.
The 21-year-old is one of Italian football’s most exciting young players and the Reds have been continually linked with him this year.
A January move has often been mooted, with Jurgen Klopp keen to add depth and quality in midfield, but that now appears unlikely.
Cagliari accept that Barella could leave at the end of the season, but he won’t be going anywhere until then.

At best, they would be happy to allow him to join a new club in January, staying with his current club until the summer.
Chelsea and Man United have also been tipped to make a move for Barella, whose reputation continues to go from strength to strength.
The youngster has made nine appearances so far this season, scoring once and proving to be a key man for 14th-place Cagliari.
Barella also made his debut for Italy last month, playing for 78 minutes in the Azzurri’s 1-1 draw at home to Ukraine.
