Liverpool to demand beqween £16m-18m for Shaqiri this summer

Liverpool will reportedly demand between £16 million and £18 million for the services of Xherdan Shaqiri, according to Calciomercato.

The Swiss is expected to leave the Reds during the summer, having spent two years at the club.

Liverpool want to sell Shaqiri permanently at the end of the season – should they receive the desired amount for him, they would make a profit, having signed him for £13 million from Stoke City.

Roma are mentioned as a possible loan destination, however, with an option to buy further down the line.

To actually make money on Shaqiri can be considered as great business by Liverpool, especially considering he turns 29 later this year.

It goes to show that the forward was a bargain in many ways, and his cheap fee meant there was little risk element in signing him.

While Shaqiri hasn’t exactly set the world alight in a Liverpool shirt, scoring seven times in 40 appearances, he should still be remembered for some key contributions.

His double against Manchester United in December 2018 was a high point, as was the inch-perfect assist for Gini Wijnaldum against Barcelona.
