Liverpool to enjoy two-week break in February – Is it a title race boost?

Current Premier League leaders Liverpool will enjoy a two-week break in February, as reported by the Athletic’s James Pearce.

The Reds have a busy fixture schedule coming up, starting with tomorrow’s Club World Cup final in Qatar.

Jurgen Klopp’s men then face Leicester City on Boxing Day, followed by a clash with Wolves three days later.

However, due to the Premier League rearranged some fixtures, Klopp’s side will enjoy a rest from 1st February until 15th February.

The only concern is that the FA have scheduled FA Cup fourth round replays to be played within this two-week period, so the Reds will hope that they’re not involved in a replay.

This could be a huge advantage for Klopp’s side in the Premier League title race.

Not having a match for two weeks allows all the players to rest adequately and those who are feeling minor strains or knocks, have plenty of time to get back to full fitness.

This could provide Klopp with a full-strength squad going into the final stretch of the season, which would be ideal.

However, Klopp’s men will be busy after this break so it’s crucial that they get enough training and conditioning work done to ensure peak performance at the business end of the campaign.
