Following an international break which seemed to go on forever, Liverpool are finally back in Premier League action, as they welcome second-placed Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield.
Spurs have been excellent this season and are rightfully bouncing with confidence. Liverpool have also been really good recently but Jurgen Klopp’s men suffered a major setback to their slim top four hopes after giving away a two-goal lead at St. Mary’s before the international break.
When the sides met earlier in the season at White Hart Lane, they couldn’t be separated as the sides sat through a 0-0 stalemate in Klopp’s first game in charge of the Reds.
This combined XI was really difficult to call as the sides have players of similar quality across the whole pitch. Also, the combined side is based on overall ability rather than recent form; otherwise the outcome would be completely different. The formation I went with was the 4-4-2 diamond.
