Loan Watch: How did Liverpool’s loan players fare at the weekend?

Liverpool rose back up to the top of the Premier League after a 0-0 draw with rivals Manchester United on Sunday afternoon. 

Jurgen Klopp’s side couldn’t pull away from Manchester City, who trail them by only a. point in second place but restored their advantage at the summit.

Without a goal in that game, let’s see if the Liverpool players who are out on loan had more excitement in their matches at the weekend!


Nathaniel Clyne – Bournemouth

The England international played the full game at right-back as Bournemouth drew 1-1 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Josh King got the one for the Cherries, and Raul Jimenez scored for Wolves. Despite winning just the point, Bournemouth moved up to 10th in the Premier League.

Danny Ings – Southampton

Ings remains out injured for the Saints. They were beaten 2-0 quite comfortably by Arsenal with Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan getting on the scoresheet.

Southampton sit in 18th place and in the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Harry Wilson – Derby County

The Welshman played 71 minutes at left wing for Derby as they were beaten 1-0 away at Nottingham Forest – Wilson also picked up a yellow card.

Yohan Benalouane scored the only goal of that game and Derby remains in seventh place of the Championship.

Ovie Ejaria – Reading

Ejaria was on target for Reading as they drew 1-1 with Rotherham at home as he played 82 minutes as a central midfielder. Semi Ajayi got the goal for the travelling side.

He also won Man of the Match in the game, and the Royals are in 21st, out of the relegation zone in the Championship

Ryan Kent – Rangers

Kent got an assist for Rangers in an impressive 5-0 win over Hamilton away from home, Ryan Jack, Jermain Defoe, Scott Arfield, James Tavernier and Kyle Lafferty got the goals.

Rangers remained in second place, just behind leaders Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Liam Millar – Kilmarnock

Millar came on in the 83rd minute for Calum Waters as they were beaten 1-0 by a Chris Erskine goal for Livingston.

Killie remained in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership despite the defeat.

Adam Bogdan – Hibernian

Ofir Marciano was again preferred in goal in a 4-2 victory over Dundee FC away from home, with Florian Kamberi, Mark McNulty (2) and Stevie Mallan scoring the decisive goals.

Paul McGowan and Marin Woods got the goals for Dundee as Hibs moved up to sixth place in the Scottish Premiership.

Marko Grujic – Hertha Berlin

Grujic played the full game as a defensive midfielder as Hertha Berlin were defeated 1-0 by Bayern Munich thanks to a Javi Martinez goal.

Berlin moved down to 10th place in the Bundesliga.

Allan de Souza – Fluminense

Allan left Eintracht Frankfurt recently and joined Brazilian side Fluminense on loan. He made his debut at the weekend in a 2-0 win away at Bangu.

Digao and Caio Henrique got the goals and Fluminense are currently second in Group A of the Campeonato Carioca.

Loris Karius – Besiktas

Karius played the full game in goal but conceded three in a 3-3 draw at home to rivals Fenerbahce.

Gokhan Gonul and Burak Yilmaz (2) got the goals for the home side, and Miha Zajc, Sadik Ciftpinar and Hasan Kaldirim got the goals for Fenerbahce.

Besiktas remained in third place in the Turkish Super Lig.

Sheyi Ojo – Stade Reims

Ojo didn’t feature in the squad for Reims as they beat Montpellier 4-2 away from home, with Remi Oudin (2), Arder Zeneli and Pablo Chavarria getting the goals for the victors.

Daniel Congre and Gaetan Labdore score for the home side as Reims moved up to sixth place in the Ligue 1 table.

Taiwo Awoniyi – Royal Mouscron

Awoniyi was on target again for Mouscron as he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against Lokeren. The club remained in 10th place in the Belgian First Division.

Pedro Chirivella – Extremadura UD

Chirivella is still yet to feature for the Spanish side, and he was not included in the squad as Extremadura lost 1-0 to Numancia away.

Fran Villalba scored the goal of that game, and they remained in 19th place in the Spanish Segunda Division.

Kamil Grabara – AGF Aarhus

Grabara played the full game in goal for AGF but conceded two as they were beaten 2-1 at home to Midtjylland.

Jakob Ankersen scored the goal for AGF, but Paul Onuachu got both the goals for the away side. Grabara’s side moved down to 10th place in the Danish Superliga.
