Loan Watch: How did Liverpool’s loan players fare at the weekend?

Liverpool are still on the hunt for the title after beating Huddersfield 5-0 at Anfield thanks to Naby Keita and two apiece for Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.

But how did the players away from Merseyside get on in their games at the weekend?

Danny Ings – Southampton & Nathaniel Clyne – Bournemouth

Ings played 81 minutes up front for Southampton before being replaced by Stuart Armstrong and Nathaniel Clyne played 72 minutes at right wing-back as former Red Dominic Solanke came on for him.

Both players failed to contribute to a goal in a 3-3 draw between the two sides with Shane Long, James Ward-Prowse and Matt Targett scoring for the Saints.

Dan Gosling and Callum Wilson (2) got on the scoresheet for the Cherries as they remained in 14th place in the Premier League and Southampton remained in 16th.

Harry Wilson – Derby County

Wilson started the game at right wing but was substituted in the 68th minute for Mason Bennett in a 2-0 victory over Bristol City away from home.

Tom Lawrence and Jayden Bogle got the goals for the Rams as they remained in sixth place in the promotion play-off places in the Championship.

Ovie Ejaria – Reading

Ejaria played the full game in central midfield as Reading were beaten 2-1 by Middlesbrough away at the Riverside.

Danny Loader scored for the Royals, but Lewis Wing and Britt Assombalonga got the two goals to ensure Boro claimed all three points.

Reading remained in 20th place in the Championship out of the relegation zone.

Ryan Kent – Rangers

Kent returned from his ban and into the starting XI playing 84 minutes at left wing for Rangers in a 2-0 victory over Aberdeen at Ibrox.

James Tavernier scored both the goals for Steven Gerrard’s men and they remained in second place in the Scottish Premiership.

Adam Bogdan – Hibernian

Ofir Marciano was preferred in goal again as Bogdan had to settle for a place on the bench as his side drew 1-1 with Hearts at home in the Edinburgh Derby.

Christophe Berra scored an own goal for the Hibs goal and Uche Ikpeazu got the late equaliser for Hearts.

Hibs remained in fifth place in the Scottish Premiership play-off places.

Liam Millar – Kilmarnock

Millar started his first game for Kilmarnock as he played 78 minutes at left midfield before being replaced by Mikael Ndjoli.

Killy were beaten 1-0 by Celtic at Celtic Park with Jozo Simunovic scoring the only goal of the game as Millar’s side remained in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership.

Marko Grujic – Hertha Berlin

Grujic missed the game through injury as his side saw out a scoreless draw away from home at Frankfurt – they remained in 11th place in the Bundesliga.

Loris Karius – Besiktas

Karius played the full game in goal but conceded one in an impressive 4-1 victory over Ankaragucu at home.

Burak Yilmaz (2), Adem Ljajic and Domagoj Vida scored the goals for the German’s side and Hadi Sacko got the consolation for Ankaragucu.

Besiktas remain in third place in the Turkish Super Lig firmly in a spot for European qualification next season.

Sheyi Ojo – Stade Reims

Ojo returned to the Stade Reims side as he came off the bench in the 60th minute for Moreto Cassama in a 1-1 draw away at Angers.

Mathieu Cafaro scored for Reims and Vincent Manceau for the home side. Despite the point Reims moved down to eighth place in Ligue 1.

Pedro Chirivella – Extremadura UD

Chirivella again didn’t feature for Extremadura as his side beat Tenerife 1-0 at home with Kike Marquez scoring the goal of that game.

Extremadura rose up to 15th place in the Spanish Segunda Division escaping their earlier fate of relegation.

Kamil Grabara –AGF Aarhus

Grabara again played the full game in goal for AGF but conceded one in a 3-1 victory over Horsens at home.

Youssef Toutouh, Mustafa Bundu and Alexander Ammitzboll scored for AGF and Louka Andreasen got the consolation for the travelling side.

AGF rose to the top in Group 1 of the Superligaen.

Taiwo Awoniyi – Royal Mouscron

Awoniyi played the full game upfront for Royal Mouscron as they were defeated 3-2 by Kortrijk at home in Group B of the Belgian First Division Europa League Play-Offs.

Mbaye Leye and Selim Amallah scored for Mouscron and Teddy Chevalier, Frank Boya (OG) and Felipe Avenatti scored for the victors.

Mouscron moved down to sixth place in Group B.

Allan played the full game in central midfield as his side were defeated 1-0 by Goias at home with Rafael Vaz getting the only goal of that game.
