Loan Watch: How did Liverpool’s loan players fare at the weekend?

Liverpool saw out a goalless draw with Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, with Riyad Mahrez letting the Reds off lightly with his penalty miss.

The players out on loan had several different experiences in their games this weekend, let’s see how they did.

Danny Ings – Southampton

Ings played the full game as the lone striker in a 3-4-3 formation and grabbed a yellow card in the 90th minute during a 3-0 defeat at home to Chelsea.

Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata scored the goals and despite the loss, the Saints remained in 16th place in the Premier League.

Harry Wilson – Derby County

Wilson came on in the 54th minute for Florian Jozefoon at right midfield in a 1-1 draw with Queen’s Park Rangers.

Jack Marriot scored for Derby County and Geoff Cameron scored for QPR, the point meant that Derby remained in eighth place.

Ben Woodburn – Sheffield United

Woodburn didn’t make the bench again in a 1-0 victory that fired Sheffield United to the top of the Championship, with David McGoldrick scoring the goal.

Ryan Kent & Ovie Ejaria – Rangers

Ejaria played 66 minutes in central midfield before being replaced by the more defensive Ryan Jack. Kent played the full game at left midfield and scored the opening goal of the game in the third minute.

Rangers beat top of the table Hearts 3-1 at home, with Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield scoring the other goals for the home side and James Dunne with the goal for Hearts, Rangers remained in sixth place in the SPL.

Adam Bogdan – Hibernian

Bogdan played the full game in goal and kept another clean sheet as Hibernian beat Hamilton 6-0 at home.

Martin Boyle, Stephen Mallan (2), Emerson Hyndman, Florian Kamberi and a Matthew Kilgallon own goal saw Hibs run riot.

Loris Karius – Besiktas

Karius played the full game in goal in a 2-2 draw away at Konyaspor. Vagner Love and Jeremain Lens scored the goals for Besiktas and Mustapha Yatabare and Paolo Hurtado scored for the home side.

The draw meant that Besiktas remained in third place in the Turkish Super Lig.

Sheyi Ojo – Stade Reims

Ojo came on in the 78th minute as a substitute for Mathieu Cafaro, a straight swap at right midfield.

Reims drew 0-0 away to Nimes and moved down to 17th place in Ligue 1.

Marco Grujic – Hertha Berlin

Grujic didn’t make the bench again due to his injury as Hertha Berlin drew 0-0 away at Mainz, as a result, Berlin moved down to fifth place in the Bundesliga.

Allan Souza – Frankfurt

Allan played the first half in the centre of midfield in a 2-1 victory away at Hoffenheim. He got a yellow card in the 37th minute so was replaced at the interval to prevent a red card.

Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic scored for Frankfurt and Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson got the goal for the away side. Frankfurt moved up to seventh place thanks to the three points.
