Harvey Elliott caught the eye more than anyone on Tuesday, as Liverpool lost 5-0 at Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
The 16-year-old was superb, despite the scoreline, looking a class act every time he got the ball.
Elliott is viewed as one of the most exciting English prospects in years, having joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer.
One article in Liverpool.com strangely compared the forward to Lionel Messi, though, with the Argentine widely seen as the best player of all time:

Manchester City fans got wind of the piece and these supporters have subsequently mocked it on Twitter.
Man, if hitting the ball into your man to get a corner gets this kind of a write up, they'd have loved Jesus Navas

While the article was no doubt a little tongue-in-cheek, it is still a needless comparison.
Messi is a phenomenon who may never be matched – such content is only going to heap pressure on Elliott’s young shoulders.
There is a justified level of hype surrounding the teenager, however, and he looks like he could be a future hero for Liverpool.
