John Stones has fired a Premier League title warning to Liverpool, saying Manchester City won’t go down without a fight.
The champions drew 2-2 at Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon, with the Reds’ subsequent win over Brighton sending them 11 points clear.
There are some who believe City’s title challenge is evaporating fast, as they potentially peak as a team after two unforgettable seasons.
Stones has a very different outlook, however, and believes his side can overturn the deficit.
Speaking in the Express, the centre-back outlined the belief that still exists among the City squad:
The challenge is still very doable in all of our opinions. And as soon as we lose that desire to win and think it’s done then it definitely is done.
We don’t have that in the dressing room, we want to fight for every competition, and fight in every game we play.
We put a healthy pressure on our shoulders to say we can achieve this, and we can claw back points and close the gap.
It’s very difficult to be out in front and you can sometimes be complacent and not do things you should do, that’s when you can slip up.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both situations, and we are where we are. We can’t change that at the minute, but tomorrow night is one step closer to closing that gap.

Guardiola’s men have accumulated 198 points over the past two seasons, highlighting why they should never be discounted.
Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool team will still see them as a major threat, and rightly so.
