Man United looking to make swoop for reported Liverpool target Bellingham

Manchester United are looking to make a late swoop for Liverpool-linked youngster Jude Bellingham, according to The Athletic.

The 16-year-old has shone for Birmingham City this season, emerging as one of the most exciting teenagers in the country.

This latest update not only states that Borussia Dortmund have agreed a fee with Birmingham for the signing of Bellingham, but that United remain confident of getting their man.

Liverpool’s rivals are believed to be ‘working on a move’, as they look to acquire the services of the midfielder.

Should Dortmund or United end up signing Bellingham, I wouldn’t see it as a major blow to Liverpool. While it is nice to bring in the country’s most talented players, the Reds already have a plethora of young stars at their disposal.

Curtis Jones possibly stands out more than anyone in that respect, along with Harvey Elliott, which could lessen the need to sign Bellingham.

While there is admittedly three years between the pair, Liverpool might be advised against curtailing Jones’ progress and allowing him to lead up the midfield pecking order.

Bellingham could potentially get in his way in that respect, not that the chance to sign him should be completely sniffed at.
