Liverpool face a battle to hang on to midfielder Philippe Coutinho as Manchester City step up their interest, according to David Anderson of the Mirror.
Raheem Sterling swapped Anfield for the Etihad Stadium in the summer and the current Premier League leaders are plotting another swoop for one of the Reds’ star men.

David Silva, one of City’s main creative players, turns 30 in January and the Mirror claim that Liverpool’s number 10 is the man they want to replace the Spaniard.
They also report that City may have to stump up around £50m for the 23-year-old, having spent big on Sterling, Nicolas Otamendi and Kevin De Bruyne in the summer.
Barcelona have also been linked with a move for Coutinho in recent weeks, but the Brazil international signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool in February.
Jurgen Klopp is set to become the new manager at Anfield, and Champions League qualification will be vital if he wants to keep hold of the sought-after attacking midfielder.
