Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Simon Mignolet will start against Huddersfield this weekend.
The Reds host the newly-promoted side at Anfield on Saturday and Mignolet – barring any late injury – will be lining up between the sticks.
Mignolet came under fire after his performance against Tottenham last weekend, when he conceded four in Liverpool’s defeat.
Fans were speculating that Loris Karius could be called in to replace the Belgian shot-stopper, but Klopp has reaffirmed Mignolet’s place in the team.
Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, Klopp said this:
Simon will play.
I didn’t think a second about changing this position.
The Belgian has started eight of Liverpool’s nine Premier League games so far this season and is currently Klopp’s number one.
He started 28 League games last season, after winning his place back from Karius at the start of the season.
The German was brought in to challenge Mignolet, with the former Sunderland keeper stepping up and earning his spot in the Liverpool starting line-up.
