James Milner finishing his career at boyhood club Leeds United is logical, but he still has plenty to offer at Liverpool.
The 33-year-old has been one of the best free signings in Reds history, having joined from Manchester City in the summer of 2015.
Blessed with vast experience, quality and a winning mentality, he has been an influential figure under Jurgen Klopp.
Speaking to Football Insider, Darren Bent believes Milner will end his career back at Leeds:
When you’ve got somebody who’s had a decorated career like he has, there’s only one place he can return. He was Leeds’ youngest every goalscorer, they love him down there.
He doesn’t need the money, the money’s out of it, he’s won all the trophies – I almost said bar the Champions League but he’s won that, he’s won everything there is to win. It is fitting for him to go back there and play where it all started and finish his career there.
He might become captain, he’s obviously going to do a job at a very, very high level, what a story that would be. I’m sure Bielsa would welcome him with open arms. That experience, he keeps himself in great nick, it wouldn’t surprise me if he did return there.

Ultimately, the decision is likely to be Milner’s, with Liverpool thought to be happy to extend his current stay at the club.
Although he is clearly coming towards the end of his career, he is still as fit as players 10 years younger than him, as shown during pre-season fitness drills every year.
Milner can continue to be a Liverpool squad player if he decides to stay beyond this season, but regular playing time could become less frequent.
He may feel that going back to Leeds and finishing off where he started as a 16-year-old in the Premier League makes more sense, though.
As always with Milner, his eventual decision will probably end up being the correct one.
