Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has revealed that becoming “more focused” is what has helped him to regain form this season following heavy criticism last term, according to a report in the Guardian.
The Spanish left-back was hugely criticised by Liverpool fans and pundits and there was supposedly no future at Anfield for the player last summer.

However, Moreno has turned his fortunes around and is now performing extremely well and the left-back puts this down to focus.
Last year was useful for me: to think, to change things, to say to myself: ‘Alberto, what can you do better?’ And the first thing was: defend. I’m a defender. And I’ve changed that.
I’m more focused; I think you can see that – and thankfully I haven’t made any mistakes.
He has also regained the faith of his manager Jurgen Klopp, who now has the confidence to select Moreno on a regular basis in the left-back position.
The full-back has been rewarded for his hard work by being selected for the Spain National squad, and this will give him even more motivation to play well to increase his chances of being in the national squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Moreno also believes that he has adapted his style of play for the team which is helping them to pick up positive results.
Maybe in my first few years at Liverpool, I was always thinking: ‘Attack, attack, attack.’ Confidence is vital for a footballer but I’m [also] more settled, more focused: now I’m like: ‘First, let’s defend, keep a clean sheet and, then, let’s go forward.’
Moreno is now hopeful that the Reds can turn positive performances into silverware this season.
