Jose Mourinho believes former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers should have been given more time at Anfield.
The Chelsea boss, who himself is under pressure despite winning the Premier League with the Blues last season, is not happy about the fact that the Ulsterman was dismissed in early October.
Rodgers was a youth and reserve coach for Chelsea when Mourinho was first in charge at Stamford Bridge, and remained in West London following the Portuguese’s departure.
Mourinho is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying: “You know, I feel sorry that somebody lost his job.
“And it is quite sad that football in this moment – even in this country – is happy with it.

Mourinho insists that he has no problem with the new Reds’ boss, Jurgen Klopp, but his sympathy lies with his predecessor.
“I’m not speaking about Jurgen [Klopp], I’ve a good relationship with him and nothing will change that. I’m speaking about the circumstances that made Brendan [Rodgers] lose his job.
“I don’t like people being excited that a new manager is coming. I don’t like a player to say: ‘Now, we are going to give extra to prove to the new manager.’ Give to Brendan! Not to the new manager.
I don’t like this at all. It’s part of my world I don’t like. My world is changing so much. It’s getting worse.
Rodgers was agonisingly close to becoming a legend at Liverpool, as he so nearly guided them to their first ever Premier League crown in 2014.
It was against Mourinho’s Chelsea that their title bid unraveled, as the resilient Blues won 2-0 at Anfield thanks to goals from Demba Ba and Willian.

The 42-year-old then struggled in the 2014-15 campaign, and it was a surprise to many when he kept his job following a 6-1 demolition at the hands of Stoke City.
A poor run of form at the start of this season was the final straw for Rodgers, who is now out of work.
