Napoli can’t compete with Liverpool in the race to sign Sander Berge, according to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato.
The Reds have been tipped to make a move for the Genk midfielder in recent days, with the 21-year-old expected to leave his current club next summer.
Jurgen Klopp is thought to have been impressed with the Norwegian’s performances against his side in the Champions League group stage, despite being on the losing team on both occasions.
Napoli have also been rumoured to be a contender to sign Berge, as have Chelsea.
Speaking to CalcioNapoliTV, via Sport Witness, Venerato revealed that Liverpool simply have too much pull in comparison to Napoli:
Berge? If Napoli goes for a player stalked by Liverpool, they come second. It is well known that there are major clubs in the world.
They like Berge, but I don’t know if he will come.

It speaks volumes about Liverpool’s standing in the current game that they are seen as so much more appealing than the Italian giants.
There was arguably a time not long ago when it was very much the opposite, but Jurgen Klopp has transformed the Reds’ fortunes.
Berge looks a big talent and with each passing week the more it seems as though Liverpool’s interest could be genuine.
