James Pearce is confident Sadio Mane will still be a Liverpool player next season, despite interest from Real Madrid.
The Senegalese has matured into one of the world’s top attacking players at Anfield, having joined the Reds in the summer of 2016.
Mane has reportedly been the subject of interest from Madrid, but nothing concrete has arrived.
During a Q&A with The Athletic on Tuesday, Pearce played down talk of the 27-year-old leaving Liverpool.
Madrid have been keen on Mane previously but there has been no contact recently. It’s just speculation.
There’s no way that Liverpool should even consider offers for him this summer. He’s coming into his prime and is on a long-term contract. I’d be very surprised if Mane wanted to move on, anyway.
He knows he’s loved at Anfield and is part of a special team challenging for the biggest prizes.

Keeping hold of Mane is absolutely essential for Liverpool, with the African superstar his side’s Player of the Year, in my opinion.
He has dragged the Reds through some games, scoring pivotal winners away to Aston Villa and Norwich City, proving to be arguably the most influential of the much-famed front-three.
Mane is a truly world-class wide man with 16 goals and eight assists to his name this season, and replacing him could be almost impossible, such is his consistent level of brilliance.
