Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has claimed Mo Salah is having the best debut season in Premier League history.
The Liverpool winger scored four goals against Watford last weekend to take his total to 31 for the season.
Salah has 28 Premier League goals and is on course to set a new record for league goals in a season.
The current record is set at 31, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Shearer and Luis Suarez all currently sharing the record.
He has seven Premier League games left to score three goals to match the record. If he scores four or more in his last seven games then he will set a new Premier League record.
Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, Thompson said this:
It has been the best ever debut season for an attacker and it is just astronomical what he is doing.
It must be a dream for him and I imagine he will barely be able to understand what has happened.
He’s come from Italy to a league which is supposed to be tougher and more physical and he’s finding it a pushover.
It has just been everything Liverpool could have hoped for.
