Player ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool earned a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford to send them through to the last eight of the Europa League at Manchester United’s expense but, in truth, they should have won on the night.

Not that Jurgen Klopp will mind. His Reds are in terrific form, and will fancy themselves in this competition.

Anthony Martial – who, incidentally, was by far Manchester United’s best player – gave Liverpool a minor scare when he dispatched a penalty just after the half-hour mark.

But, in reality, the Reds were always going to score. And score they did.

Philippe Coutinho embarrassed David de Gea with a deft chip that Lionel Messi would have been proud of.

With a couple of exceptions, the Liverpool players did themselves proud against the old enemy, and they will feel as though they are hitting form at just the right time.
