Predicted Liverpool XI: Manchester City (N)

Liverpool will be aiming to put an early marker down for the season when they face Premier League champions Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

This game is generally known as English football’s “season curtain-raiser.” And when the two best teams of the country are contesting it, then bragging rights are at stakes.

The Reds had a mixed bag in pre-season, where they were without six key players for most of the time. They must be glad to see five of them coming back last week.

While Alisson is set to start, the other four – namely Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri are available to take some sort of part in tomorrow’s game.

With the managers having the leeway of making six substitutions in this game, Jurgen Klopp must be aiming to manage the playing time of some of his key players ahead of the Premier League opener against Norwich next Friday.
