European champions Liverpool begin their Club World Cup campaign with a semi-final clash against Mexican side Monterrey in Doha on Wednesday evening.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are in this competition as a result of their Champions League triumph back in June. They are now looking to win the Club World Cup to officially become ‘the best club in the world’.
However, that’ll be easier said than done, with the quality of opposition waiting for them in the semi-final, and then potentially the final.
Monterrey are a free-scoring team who play with a lot of passion and love competing from the first second until the last, irrespective of the scoreline.
Liverpool will have to be at their best to get a win over the Mexicans and progress to the final on Saturday.
In terms of team news, Klopp has confirmed that Gini Wijnaldum will miss this game, while Virgil van Dijk is fit inspite of missing a training session on Monday.
The likes of Fabinho, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip have not travelled with the rest of the squad. Here’s how we think the Reds might line up on Wednesday.
