Mark Noble has heaped praise on Steven Gerrard, claiming he is superior to Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard.
Gerrard is widely seen as one of the best players in Liverpool’s history, if not the greatest.
He spent 17 years in a Reds shirt, so often single-handedly winning them matches, scoring endless memorable goals along the way.
Noble shared a pitch with Gerrard numerous times, seeing how special he was up close.
Although Scholes and Lampard had fantastic careers of their own, the West Ham legend is in no doubt over who the best of the three is.
The 32-year-old took charge of West Ham’s official Twitter account on Wednesday, answering questions from supporters.
When asked about the Gerrard-Scholes-Lampard debate that is so often brought up, Noble was emphatic in his response.
Trust me when I say you only realise how good a player is when you play against them
All 3 were top top players in their own right but all round player
Stevie G was the complete footballer https://t.co/6ts2kXXO9M— West Ham United (@WestHam) March 25, 2020
I think Noble is spot on in his assessment, with Gerrard edging Scholes and Lampard as all-round players. He was a more complete footballer without a weakness, possessing pace, power, quality, versatility, end product and leadership.
Scholes and Lampard were exceptional in their own right, but neither could carry a team like Gerrard.
