As the Red half of Liverpool prepares for a party 30 years in the making, Some may question the sense of a team that’s moments away from lifting the Premier League trophy, targeting relegation-threatened clubs for their next arrivals.
However, Liverpool have an impressive recent record when bringing in recently relegated players with key squad members Gini Wijnaldum and Andy Robertson joining the club from relegated Newcastle United and Hull City sides, respectively.
Given the insecure financial circumstances, Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards may look, once more, towards the players dropping out of the league to bolster the squad.
These players can often be picked up on cut-price deals as clubs look to recoup their losses for falling out of the top flight.
Adam Lallana will leave the club come to the end of his brief contract extension whilst question marks hang over the likes of Dejan Lovren and Xherdan Shaqiri’s future at Anfield also and as such, Klopp may look to further increase his options.
Here are some relegation-threatened targets who despite their club’s potential departure from the league, have proven themselves capable in the top flight and who we think could potentially be worth a place in a future Liverpool squad.
