It’s only a matter of days before the 2019 UEFA Super Cup takes place.
For the eighth time in the competition’s history, the two competing teams are from the same country, and for the first time, two English clubs are involved: Champions League winners Liverpool and Europa League holders Chelsea.
The two teams have had contrasting starts to the Premier League season – Liverpool scored four goals in their opening match against Norwich, while Chelsea conceded the same amount to Manchester United.
Both sides will have players unavailable for the match in Istanbul – Liverpool will be without goalkeeper Alisson and Chelsea have the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi unavailable.
Despite losing badly to United, Frank Lampard’s side cannot be written off and they are expected to give the Reds a tough fight.
