Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold following his side’s 4-0 defeat to the Reds.
Alexander-Arnold scored and picked up two assists as Liverpool moved 13 points clear at the top of the table.
Rodgers has labeled Alexander-Arnold as “phenomenal” and says that he is England’s best right-back.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Rodgers said this:
For me, he plays full-back as a midfield player. His range of passing is phenomenal … he was a midfielder as a youngster.
His quality, the experiences he has gained, for Jurgen he has been absolutely amazing. Trent is up there and is very much England’s number one [right-back] and playing consistently at a high level.

Despite Alexander-Arnold’s form over the last 18 months for Liverpool, it is not set in stone that he is England’s first-choice right-back. Gareth Southgate has often gone for Kieran Trippier in that position, who impressed at the World Cup in 2018 for England as they reached the semi-final.
However, Alexander-Arnold is now the star of a team storming towards a Premier League title and that is something that Southgate surely cannot ignore. With England set to compete at the European Championships next summer, it would be a shock if Trent is not lining up at right-back for his country.
