Scholes tips Rashford to be fit for Liverpool clash

Marcus Rashford will be fit to face Liverpool this weekend, according to Paul Scholes.

Rashford was injured in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Wolves in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, limping off shortly after coming on.

There was immediate concern that he would be unavailable for Sunday’s crucial clash at Anfield, as United look to dent their rivals’ Premier League title charge.

Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Scholes was confident about Rashford starting against Jurgen Klopp’s men:

It’s a big blow because he’s been by far and away Manchester United’s best player, he’s been their biggest goal threat,” Scholes said.

I think it’s something that he actually picked up in the Manchester City game, where he got a bit of a knock on his back, but he played the Norwich game and was excellent on Saturday.

This was an opportunity for him to have a break tonight and okay, it didn’t work out because he had to come on as United were struggling a little bit but I think he’ll be OK.

Maybe a bit of ice and a couple of days rest but he’ll be alright for Sunday.

In my opinion, Rashford carries comfortably the biggest threat for United this weekend.

With 19 goals in all competitions, he is easily their top goalscorer, with Anthony Martial (11) the only other player in double figures.

I think Rashford’s blistering pace on the counter-attack is something Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will see as key on Sunday, looking to pounce on Liverpool losing the ball.

Should the 22-year-old be missing, it would be a big boost for the Reds, as they look to clinch yet another three points.
