Sinclair’s future uncertain

Jerome Sinclair faces an uncertain future at Liverpool over a dispute about his contract.

The 18-year-old has a year left on his current contract but the Liverpool Echo have reported that the club and the player are some way apart with regards to the terms on a new deal.

Eight academy players have joined up with the first team squad on their tour to Australia and Asia but Sinclair was not among  them.

On Friday the forward posted a cryptic tweet saying: “Sometimes things just aren’t meant to be! Exciting times though! New chapter pending, Can’t wait to see where this year takes me.”

Fans who have seen this tweet are now presuming that Sinclair’s Liverpool career looks to be nearing the end – despite him being one of the hottest prospects from the Academy.

The forward’s omission from the squad has fuelled more speculation that the youngster could be leaving Melwood this summer, despite Championship club Burnely being interested in a loan deal.

Sinclair has instead travelled with the Under-21 team to Dublin where Michael Beale’s team plays two games.

It’s understood by the Echo that further talks will take place with the player, who became the club’s youngest ever play when he made his debut at 16-years-and-six-days-old against West Brom  in 2012.

The 18-year-old had a short spell on loan at Wigan Athletic last season and also came off the bench for the Reds in Steven Gerrard’s last home match against Crystal Palace.
