Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel believes the club’s upcoming pre-season tour will help the new signings bed in.
The Reds will play their first game in Thailand next week, before travelling to Australia to face Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United.
Brendan Rodgers has already signed a host of first team players ready for the new campaign and Skrtel is hoping to bond with his new team mates.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: “We’ll be away for almost two weeks and will spend some time together so we can know them better and they can know us better.”
“It’s always good for building team spirit and it’s the perfect time for them to come into the team.
“It’s always nice to see new players in the team because they can strengthen [us] and that’s very important.”
The Slovakian is coming into his ninth season at the club and is expected to play at the Rajammangala Stadium in Bangkok for the third time, after featuring for the club during the respective 2009 and 2013 tours.
Skrtel is looking forward to returning to Thailand:
“The first time we travelled there was in my second year at Liverpool and I’d never seen something like that before.
“Obviously this time I know what we can expect and it’s nice to go there and see the fans because not all of them can come to Liverpool and see us play at Anfield.”
The 30-year-old recently agreed a new three-year contract at the club, and is committed to the Merseyside outfit until 2019.
