Jurgen Klopp is renowned for giving the best hugs in football, but someone who failed to be on the receiving end of one was Granit Xhaka.
Footage has emerged of the pair exiting the referee’s changing room before Liverpool’s clash with Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday.
As Klopp and Jordan Henderson prepare to return to the home dressing room, Gunners’ skipper Xhaka attempts to go for a hug with the Reds boss.
Hilariously, the German decides against it, leading to an awkward moment that is bordering on painful to watch.
Liverpool supporters loved what they saw on Twitter.

The level of disrespect from Klopp. Aired Xhaka causally. Only good footballers get hugs from Jürgen. #LFC https://t.co/whUrNz5dYE

Klopp is one of the most charismatic, lovable men in football, so it’s no surprise to see Xhaka attempt his luck.
Unfortunately, he produces a moment that will belong on social media for an infinite amount of time.
Who can blame him for going in for the hug, though – they must feel magnificent!
