After clinching their fourth UEFA Super Cup, Liverpool play their second Premier League match against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium this weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s side defeated Saints in their own backyard just four months ago – in that game, the Reds came from behind as goals from Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson steered them to a 3-1 win.
Southampton’s Premier League campaign started poorly with a 3-0 defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side will be eager to put up a strong showing against the Champions League and Super Cup winners, but it will be difficult to beat this Liverpool side, even at home.
The last time Southampton beat the Reds in a Premier League game was a 3-2 home win back in 2016, with Sadio Mane bagging a brace for Saints.
