One of the main talking points this season is how Liverpool have supposedly benefited more than anyone from VAR.
Their 22-point lead at the top of the Premier League is apparently down to referees favouring them and opponents being robbed against them.
It has been no surprise to see some Manchester United fans proving particularly vocal about it, as they watch in horror at the prospect of their most bitter rivals winning a league title for the first time in 30 years:

It turns out that United have actually profited more from VAR than Liverpool, however, according to an intriguing thread on Twitter by ESPN’s Dale Johnson:

Man United +4
Southampton +3
Bournemouth +2
Burnley +2
Leicester +2
Liverpool +1
Newcastle +1
Man City 0
Tottenham 0
Watford 0
Everton -1
Arsenal -2
Aston Villa -2
Chelsea -2
West Ham -4
Wolves -4
Norwich City -6
Sheffield United -6— Dale Johnson (@DaleJohnsonESPN) February 3, 2020

The ‘LiVARpool’ narrative doing the rounds is a total myth, as the above information shows.
I believe rival supporters are simply obsessing about it as a way of playing down Liverpool’s incredible achievements this season.
Ironically, the Reds were possibly hurt by VAR in the only league game they have dropped points in this season – away to United, where a potential foul on Divock Origi in the lead-up to Marcus Rashford’s goal was awarded.
Liverpool have had some decisions go in their favour, of course, but they’ve also had goals ruled out by the technology too, such as Sadio Mane’s goal at Old Trafford .
