UPDATE: December 9th, 12:50pm
Sky Sports are reporting that Liverpool believe Daniel Sturridge’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared, and the club remain hopeful that the striker will be available for the busy festive schedule.
The England striker suffered a hamstring strain against Newcastle United on Sunday, and will be kept out for a couple of weeks as a result.

Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out until the New Year with a hamstring injury picked up against Newcastle, as reported by James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.
Having only recently returned from a prolonged spell on the sidelines, this news will come as a blow for Liverpool, adding to the disappointment of the weekend’s 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park.
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that the injury isn’t too serious, as glimpses of Sturridge against Southampton showed fans what they have been missing up front, highlighted by a classy double in the 6-1 drubbing at St. Mary’s.
With Christian Benteke’s below-par performance at the weekend doing little to show he has the consistency to be a viable alternative to Sturridge, many will be wondering where the goals are going to come from in the near future.
In Sturridge’s absence, Benteke will have a chance in favourable ties against the likes of Sion, West Brom, Leicester and Sunderland to turn many fans “from doubters to believers.”
