Supporters are relieved Liverpool didn’t sign Pepe in the summer

Nicolas Pepe was one of the most talked-about players during the summer transfer window, with Liverpool continually linked with signing the winger.

Despite many supporters being desperate for the Reds to make a move, their interest was never concrete and Arsenal signed him instead.

Some were disappointed at the time, but current evidence suggests Liverpool made the right decision.

Pepe endured a night to forget at Manchester United on Monday, looking horribly out of his depth as the two sides drew 1-1.

These Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to express their relief at not signing the Ivorian.

Such is the knee-jerk nature of modern football, it’s no surprise to see criticism coming Pepe’s way.

There is no denying that he has flopped so far, but it is still early days in his Arsenal career.

Let’s not forget that Fabinho was being branded a ‘waste of money’ by some after a disappointing performance against the Gunners last season – look at him now.

That being said, Arsenal supporters do have reason to be concerned, with Pepe looking way off the pace at the moment.
