The lifting of the cup – after long last

Tonight will see the end of the haunting 30-year wait for a Liverpool captain to finally lift the Premier League high into the Anfield sky.

The trophy lift is set to be a poignant moment as Liverpool have paved a way on the Spion Kop so that the squad and the manager, who have made dreams come tru,e can lift the cup in the famous stand.

It will serve as a welcome reminder to those who usually stand on the Kop every week that they are still a part of this league title victory, despite not being in attendance for obvious reasons.

Club legend Kenny Dalglish will present the trophy to Jordan Henderson, which is again, another example of how spot on the club is getting the small things that will mean a lot to people.

It will still be a special moment for the fans who will be forced to watch on screens rather than in person. From the older generation who have had to wait the full 30 years, after seeing such riches throughout the 1970s and 80s. But what about that generation in the middle? The ones who missed the 70s and 80s and had to start going regularly in the 90s.?

And then the younger generation, who have only ever heard stories about winning the league. It’s now their turn to go and experience it and see the pictures of a Liverpool team finally be the number one in the Premier League.

The guard of honours have brought smiles to red hearts, however, nothing will compare to seeing that trophy be lifted on the Kop.

The one we’ve all been waiting for, is finally happening.
