The Premier League teams who were top at Christmas and didn’t win the title

With their 3-0 win at Bournemouth no consigned to history, Liverpool have once again claimed the Premier League top spot at Christmas.  This is familiar ground for the Reds, having been in this position four times before. Of course, on all occasions, the Merseysiders have failed to press home their advantage and win the title at the end of the season. They’re not alone in having that honour though, with several other teams having failed to keep their festive spot at the top of the table. We’ve taken a look at all of these teams. Liverpool will be hoping not to be added to this list of teams again this season.
