Some Liverpool supporters have been left touched by the club’s decision to send kits to local youngsters.
On Wednesday, the club revealed that they and new sponsors Nike had come together to donate 100 kits to 25 schools in and around the Anfield area, as a way of connecting with the local community.
It was given as a reward for those youngsters who have done positive work during the coronavirus pandemic, making a difference to life locally. It is a lovely acknowledgement of the efforts of so many at such a difficult time.
Liverpool as a city is extremely close-knit, although it will be split come Saturday afternoon, when the 237th Merseyside derby takes place.
The Reds head to Goodison Park to take on an Everton side full of confidence after winning their opening four Premier League games, looking for a first victory against their rivals in a decade.
The last three derbies at Goodison have all finished 0-0, and have lacked entertainment value, but the hope is that a footballing feast is offered up this weekend, and that Liverpool win, of course.
These Reds fans have been reacting to the gesture on Twitter, lauding the club in the process.
