Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a new long-term deal at Liverpool, keeping him at Anfield until the summer of 2023.
The 26-year-old has overcome a serious knee injury to return to first team action, impressing for the Reds in their 2-1 win at Southampton last Saturday.
Speaking about the new contract, which is a hugely positive piece of news, Oxlade-Chamberlain couldn’t hide his delight:
I’m really, really excited – it’s been in the pipeline for a little while, so it’s nice to finally get it done and just extend my time here, which I am really looking forward to.
I feel like I missed out on a year, which I obviously did, so it’s really exciting for me to be able to sign. It’s something that I feel is an opportunity to give that year back and make up for lost time – and hopefully put in some good performances to make amends for not being around last year.”
You’ve got to count your blessings every time you get an opportunity like this, you don’t get the chance to play for Liverpool Football Club every day. I am really excited to be able to extend my time here.
These Liverpool supporters have been reacting to the news on Twitter, with much positivity in the air.

Read Liverpool Verdict
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s extended contract isn’t just a big boost for him personally, but also for Liverpool.
The former Arsenal man has been an excellent signing since arriving in 2017, adding an extra dimension to the Reds’ midfield.
Without him, they have sometimes felt one-dimensional in the middle of the park, but as he showed at Southampton, he brings a different level of guile.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cruciate ligament injury was a monumental blow, but the manner in which he has overcome it speaks volumes about his character.
Hopefully, he can make an impact on Saturday, as Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield.
