Tony Gallacher joins MLS side Toronto FC

Liverpool have confirmed, via their official website, that youngster Tony Gallacher has joined MLS side Toronto FC on loan until the end of December.

The 21-year-old will now embark on his first spell away from the club since arriving in 2018 from Scottish League One club Falkirk.

A Scottish Under-17 international, Gallacher has been a regular for the Reds’ Under 23 side and made his senior debut during last season’s Carabao Cup meeting with Aston Villa.

Gallacher will hope to get his first prolonged taste of first-team football since leaving Scotland, heading to Canada to represent Ontario based MLS side Toronto FC.

The Scottish left-back was sent on his way with good wishes from fellow Liverpool youth prospect and Toronto born Liam Millar on Twitter.

Millar has represented Canada on eight occasions and made his own Reds debut last season in the FA Cup Fourth Round replay with Shrewsbury Town at Anfield.

Gallacher will certainly benefit from the first-team exposure, with his chances as part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad severely dented by the summer arrival of Kostas Tsimikas.
