The 19-year-old wants to leave the Bundesliga club in January, with a host of top clubs monitoring the situation.

That includes the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona, while a return to Manchester City has also been mentioned.

The source of the news, Viasport presenter Jan Arge Fjortoft, is seen as one of the most reliable around, giving further reason for optimism surrounding a deal for Sancho being completed.

The Norwegian has been right on several occasions when it comes to transfer-related news, as highlighted on Twitter by @MaaxiAngelo.

Fjortoft correctly stated that Jurgen Klopp would join Liverpool back in 2015, as well as tipping Mesut Ozil to move to Arsenal.

He was also right in stating that Shkodran Mustafi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would head to the Emirates, highlighting his pedigree as a source.

Liverpool getting a deal over the line would feel like a major statement of intent moving forward, but they will face stiff competition.
