Trent Alexander-Arnold is focused on breaking his own Premier League record for assists by a defender.
The 21-year-old registered 12 assists in the league last season, but he has already matched that tally in 2019/20.
Speaking to LiverpoolFC.com, Alexander-Arnold spoke about making history once more, as his superb season continues:
That was my aim going into the season – to get over 10 again. And as the season’s went on, it’s been about trying to push the limits and try to break as many records as I can, try to push myself as far as I can, try to help the team as much as possible and get assists, goals and contributions.
Obviously clean sheets first and foremost, but going forward, I’ve tried to get as many assists as possible.
I’ve equalled that record and now I’ll look to push on and try to break it.

What Alexander-Arnold is doing is remarkable, with the youngster proving to be a creative force in this Champions League-winning Liverpool side.
His average of 2.7 key passes per game in the league this season is the most by any Reds player – Mohamed Salah is second on 1.8.
When it comes to discussing PFA Player of the Year award, I don’t think he is receiving enough recognition compared to the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane.
I believe his performance at Leicester City on Boxing Day was the best individual display of the season by a Liverpool player, on a night when he assisted twice and also scored, earning a 9.66 rating from WhoScored.
If the main award doesn’t go Alexander-Arnold’s way this season – there is strong competition, in fairness – it will be rather farcical if he doesn’t win Young Player of the Year.
This is a generational talent we are watching – to already have 12 assists this season from right-back is remarkable and if he continues to deliver at a high level, he has a chance of adding plenty of medals to the two he’s already won earlier in the season.
Liverpool look like they have the Premier League title in the bag, to add to the Club World Cup and the Super Cup, and if Trent can continue to assist goals regularly, there’s no reason why the Reds can’t content for the Champions League and potentially the FA Cup too.
