Tony Bellew has paid Virgil van Dijk an enormous compliment, calling him the best centre-back he has ever seen.
The former boxing world champion is a diehard Everton supporter, often making it clear how much he dislikes Liverpool.
Unlike many Blues, however, who have a reputation for being bitter about the Reds, Bellew can’t hide his admiration for them.
Speaking on The Greatest Game with Jamie Carragher podcast, the 36-year-old said he has never seen a better defender than Van Dijk:
They’ve got the best defender in the whole world – he’s the best defender I’ve ever seen,
He’s unbelievable. I’ve never seen a defender like him in my life. He’s like a cheat on a game.

Van Dijk really is something special – having an Everton supporter speak so highly of him sums up his brilliance.
The Dutchman hasn’t been a Reds player for two years yet, but he is already one of the best centre-backs in club’s history.
He is faultless in all aspects of his game, whether it be his pace, strength, reading of play or leadership.
Van Dijk can genuinely be considered one of the best-ever in his position if he retains this level for another several years.
