Werner describes Premier League as ‘most interesting’ division in Europe

Timo Werner has hinted that a move to the Premier League would appeal, admitting that it is the ‘most interesting’ league in Europe.

The 23-year-old is having another strong season for RB Leipzig, scoring 18 goals and registering six assists in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool are one of a host of clubs to have been linked with Werner, who is expected to leave Leipzig at the end of the season.

Speaking to Bild, the Germany striker said the Premier League appeals, but did also stress that he is happy in his homeland currently:

The Premier League is certainly the most interesting league, you have to say.

There is a certain flair to watching the English league and playing there.

But many Germans have also been very successful in Spain, such as Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil.

As of now I have no desire to look for a move elsewhere.

I think Werner would be a fantastic signing if Liverpool did manage to get him this summer.

The £67.5 million-rated forward has everything required to thrive under Jurgen Klopp, whether it be quality, versatility or an admirable work ethic.

The biggest issue, in my opinion, is that Werner will likely demand to be a regular starter – something that won’t happen in our eyes with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all at Liverpool.

Unless Klopp could find a way of fitting them all in, potentially switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation with Werner leading the line and Firmino dropping deep, we can’t see starts being be regularity.

Because of this, I don’t believe Liverpool will end up signing Werner, unless one of the front-three moves on.
